Pamukkale is renowned for its stunning white calcite cascades, formed by the hot spring waters originating from 17 different sources in the area. Although swimming is not allowed in the knee-deep terraces, you can enjoy a dip in Cleopatra’s Pool, which is filled with the rejuvenating waters from Pamukkale and adorned with antique columns from Hierapolis Antique City.
Hierapolis Antique City is situated right next to the healing pool of Pamukkale. Initially built by Seleucid Kings, this city has a rich history with Pagan roots and a Jewish community. Over time, it became a significant Christian city due to the martyrdom and tomb of St. Philip. Hierapolis flourished as a center for arts, philosophy, and trade. Today, you can explore the Necropolis, Roman Baths, Domitian Gate, Latrina, Oil Factory, Frontinus Street, Agora, Byzantium Gate, Triton Fountain, Cathedral, Apollon Temple, Plutonium, Theater, and the renowned Cleopatra’s Pool, which was once part of the ancient healing center.
Salda Lake, often referred to as the “Maldives of Turkey,” captivates with its beautiful white sandy beaches and white magnesium rocks. The crystal-clear waters showcase mesmerizing shades of blue and green, creating a picturesque scene that invites you to capture countless photos. Whether you choose to relax on the beach, swim in the pristine waters, or explore the stunning surroundings, Salda Lake offers a serene and captivating experience.
Sagalassos, located high in the Taurus Mountains, was a prosperous metropolis during the Roman era. The region’s fertile soil and abundant clay deposits contributed to its wealth. Today, you can witness the almost complete preservation of this mighty city, including its grand fountains and other magnificent structures from its golden age.
Laodicea, recognized as one of the Seven Churches of Revelation, was a prosperous city known for its cloth and textile manufacturing. Despite enduring numerous earthquakes and wars, remnants of its former grandeur still stand as remarkable monuments and buildings. During your visit, explore the Council Building, Stadium, Gymnasium, Monumental Nymphaeum, Zeus Temple, and the small and large theaters.
Aphrodisias, named after the Greek Goddess of Love, Aphrodite, is an ancient city situated near Geyre village. It was renowned for its marble quarry and the sculptures produced by Aphrodisias artists, which gained fame throughout the Roman world. The city boasts unique architecture and a cult image of Aphrodite. Today, it stands as one of the best-preserved ancient cities in Turkey, showcasing beautiful marble buildings and larger-than-life-size structures created by the talented artists of Aphrodisias. Many of these well-preserved sculptures can be admired in the Aphrodisias Museum.
3 Days Pamukkale, Salda Lake, Sagalassos, Aphrodisias and Laodicea Tour Details
Day 1: Pamukkale and Hierapolis Tour
Upon your arrival at Denizli Airport, our team will greet you and drive you to Pamukkale. Once you reach Pamukkale, your guide will be waiting for you to begin the Pamukkale & Hierapolis Tour. Our first stop will be the Hierapolis Antique City, where you can explore remarkable sites such as the Necropolis, Roman Baths, Domitian Gate, Latrina, Oil Factory, Frontinus Street, Agora, Byzantium Gate, Triton Fountain, Cathedral, Apollon Temple, Plutonium, Theater, and Antique Pool. After immersing yourself in the ancient wonders of Hierapolis, we will proceed to Pamukkale. Here, you can experience the therapeutic properties of the white pools and, if you wish to swim, we can arrange a visit to Cleopatra’s Pool. Following your free time at the Pamukkale travertines, we will indulge in a delicious lunch at a local restaurant. Our journey continues to Karahayit, where you can enjoy the Red Water Hot Springs. At the end of the tour, we will transfer you to your hotel in Pamukkale for an overnight stay.
Day 2: Salda Lake and Sagalassos Antique City Tour (Breakfast)
After a delightful breakfast, we will drive you to Salda Lake, often referred to as the “Turkish Maldives” due to its resemblance to the Maldives. Here, you can unwind on the beach, marvel at the breathtaking natural surroundings, or capture stunning photographs. Following a scrumptious lunch at a local restaurant, we will proceed to Sagalassos Antique City, located high in the Taurus Mountains. This exceptionally well-preserved ancient city boasts remarkable features, including the state agora, fountains, theater, baths, heroon, and temples. After an enriching tour of Sagalassos, we will return to Pamukkale for another overnight stay.
Day 3: Laodicea and Aphrodisias Antique City Tour (Breakfast)
After enjoying a delicious breakfast, it’s time to check out from your hotel. We will then embark on a journey to Laodicea, an ancient city renowned as one of the Seven Churches of Revelation and once a prosperous hub of the early Christian era. During our visit, we will explore significant sites such as the Council Building, Stadium, Gymnasium, Monumental Nymphaeum, Zeus Temple, and both the small and large theaters. Following Laodicea, we will continue our adventure to Aphrodisias, where a delectable lunch awaits us at a local restaurant. In Aphrodisias Antique City, you will have the opportunity to witness the remarkable remains of this renowned city, including the Sebasteion, Theater, Agora, Tiberius Portico, Hadrian Baths, Bishop Palace, Aphrodite Temple, Odeon, Stadium, and Tetraphylon. Our final stop will be the Aphrodisias Museum, where you can admire the captivating sculptures. After a day filled with historical wonders, we will transfer you to Denizli Airport for your flight back to Istanbul.
