Priene is an ancient Greek city located in the western coast of Turkey, which was a member of Ionian League and a prosperous port city in its time. Despite experiencing natural disasters and being rebuilt three times, Priene has always held a great spiritual and religious significance due to its central shrine of Ionian League. The city boasts many examples of beautiful Hellenic art, with Bouleuterion, The Theater, and The Temple of Athena being the most significant remains worth seeing.
Miletus, on the other hand, is known as the capital of art, science, and philosophy, and was home to several famous philosophers. It was also the largest city in Anatolia at one time. Today, visitors can explore the city’s rich history and culture by visiting the theater and Faustina Baths. Interestingly, the symbol of the Olympic games has its origins in the lighthouse of the biggest harbor of Miletus.
Another famous site in the region is Didyma, which is famous for its Apollon Temple and Medusa Head. Although Didyma was not a city, it was an important sanctuary and the center of the cult center for Miletus, which housed oracles that were renowned in ancient times. - Our first stop will be Priene, where you will have the opportunity to explore the stunning theater, the impressive Temple of Athena, the Bouleterium, Agora, and the Altar of Zeus and Cybele.
- Next, we will drive to Miletus, which was once known as the capital of art, science, and philosophy. You will visit the Delphinium, Nymphanion, the Theater, and the Faustina Baths.
- After a morning of sightseeing, we will stop for a delicious lunch in a local restaurant before heading to our final destination, Didyma. Here, you will be able to admire the magnificent Temple of Apollon, which is one of the largest temples in the Hellenic world.
