The name of Antalya City coming from the founder of this city, the king of Pergamon, Attalos II. It is believed that King Attalos II built the city around 150 BC and named it Attalia. It was a naval base for the his fleet. When King Attalos died, the city became a part of Roman Empire. In Roman period Antalya prospered. It was a major city in Byzantian period. After that the city fell under the rule of Selcuk Turks and later became the capital of Teke Beylik. In 1423 it became a part of Ottoman Empire. Modern Antalya is a lively city, capitol of Turkish Tourism. Also agriculture, commerce and light industry are economical values of Antalya.
