Ephesus, Mother Mary House and Temple of Artemis
Ephesus is probably the most famous ancient site in Turkey and it is a must see attraction while you are here. It was once a busy trade center as a port city. Ephesus had a great influence on the ancient world. Also as an important religious center of early Christianity and one of the seven churches mentioned in the Book of Revelations. Celsus Library, Temple of Hadrian, The Fountain of Trajan and The Theater are just some examples to see in this ancient city.
In the tour you will not only visit Ephesus Ancient City but also have a chance to visit Virgin Mary’s House where is believed that she spend her last years.
The last visit will be The Temple of Artemis which was one of the seven wonders of the Ancient World.
Priene, Miletus & Didyma
Priene was an ancient Greek city, a member of Ionian League. It was also a rich port city. It’s been built three times because of natural disasters. It’s never had a great political influence but Priene had the central shrine of Ionian League and it always had a great spiritual and religious importance. Priene has a lot of beautiful Hellenic art examples. Bouleuterion, The Theater and The Temple of Athena are the most important remains to be seen.
Miletus is the home of several famous philosophers, the capital of art, science and philosophy in anicent world. Once it was the biggest city in Anatolia. Today the most important remains to be seen are the theater and Faustina Baths. Also the symbol of the Olympic games are originated from the lighthouse of the biggest harbor of Miletus.
Didyma is famous with Apollon Temple and Medusa Head. This temple is one of the biggest temples in the Hellenic world. Didyma was not a city but it was a sanctuary, the home of oracles and the cult center for Miletus. The oracle in Didyma had quiet a reputation in ancient times.
Pamukkale & Hierapolis
Pamukkale is a natural beauty and is famous for its white travertine terraces shaped by calcium springs. You can walk through Pamukkale barefeet and even find a chance to make peeling with calcium sediments. It is another must-see attraction in Turkey.
Built just above the hot spring waters of Pamukkale, Hierapolis is a mighty ancient city and one of the UNESCO World Heritage Sites. Hierapolis built in 2.nd century BC by the King of Pergamon then became a Roman City. City was famous with several important sanctuaries and also it was an important trade center. Hierapolis was famous for purple die and cloth making as it is still famous with textile products.
3 Days Ephesus, Priene, Miletus and Didyma, Pamukkale Tour Program
Day 1: Ephesus Tour (Lunch)
- Pick you up from hotel in Istanbul and transfer to airport for your flight to Izmir Airport. When you arrive to I zmir, you meet with driver and drive to Ephesus/Selcuk.
- When you arrive to Selcuk town, Full day Ephesus Tour starts. First we will visit Mother Mary’s House. It is believed that, after the crucifixion of Jesus, Mother Mary traveled to Ephesus with St. John and settled here. Than we will start visiting Ephesus Ancient City and exlpore the Celsus Library, Great Theater, Temple of Hadrian, the Fountain of Trajan, Hercules Gate, Domitian Temple, and more.
- After a lunch break in Selcuk town, we will visit Artemis Temple. It is known as one of the seven wonders of the ancient world.
- After the tour you will be taken to your hotel to spend the night in Kusadasi.
Day 2: Priene Miletos Didyma Tour (Breakfast – Lunch)
- After your breakfast in the hotel we will pick you up from hotel and drive to Priene Ancient City. We will visit The Theater, The Temple of Athena, Bouleuterion, Agora and Altar of Zeus and The Temple of Cybele.
- Then we will drive to Miletus Ancient City. We will visit Delphinium, Nymphanion, The Theater and The Faustina Baths.
- After Miletus, we will have lunch and drive to Didyma Ancient City. We will visit The Temple of Apollon.At the end of the tour you will be taken to your hotel to spend the night in Kusadasi.
Day 3: Pamukkale & Hierapolis Tour (Breakfast – Lunch)
- After your breakfast in the hotel, please check out. We will pick you up from hotel and drive to Pamukkale for 3 hours.
- Upon arrival, we will have lunch in a local restaurant and we will drive to Hierapolis Ancient City.
- We will explore Necropolis, The Amphitheater, The Temple of Apollo, Martyrium of St. Philip, Cleopatra’s Pool and more in Hierapolis Ancient City.
- Afterward, we will stop at the white travertine terraces of Pamukkale. You will have free time to take photos or enjoy the hot relaxing waters of Pamukkale.
- After the tour you will be transferred to Denizli Airport at 16:00 o’clock to take your flight for Istanbul.
- Upon your arrival you will be picked up from airport to transfer to your hotel in Istanbul.
